BlueBUS is NICE’s proprietary digital communication bus that connects accessories — such as the included EPMB photocells and other NICE devices — to the HO7124 control unit over a two-wire cable, with both power and data travelling on the same pair. Each BlueBUS device has a unique digital address that the control unit automatically recognises during setup, eliminating the need to individually wire multiple accessory types to separate terminal pairs. For Abu Dhabi gate installations where neatly minimising cable runs through gate pillars is a priority, BlueBUS reduces the conductor count compared to conventionally wired photocell and accessory systems.

The NICE HOPPBDKCE includes a self-learning system that automatically calculates four operating parameters during commissioning: gate path length (recording the full travel from closed to open), slowdown point (where the motor decelerates before reaching the end stop), partial opening point (for pedestrian access without full vehicle opening), and one- or two-motor configuration. The installer runs the gate through one learning cycle and the HO7124 control unit records all positions automatically. This is the most comprehensive auto-calibration system of any arm motor in the POWERgate Abu Dhabi range, eliminating manual adjustment of slowdown and partial opening positions.

The NICE HOPPBDKCE specifies a maximum continuous operating time of 10 minutes at nominal torque alongside its 35 cycles/hour rating. This 10-minute limit means the motor should not run for longer than 10 continuous minutes without a rest interval — relevant for gate systems that may enter a sustained run during commissioning, fault-triggered re-cycling, or gate hold-open modes where the motor stays energised for extended periods. For normal residential use where each gate cycle takes 15–25 seconds, the 10-minute continuous limit is never approached in practice, but commissioning engineers should be aware when running extended test sequences.

The NICE HOPPBDKCE uses an asymmetric motor kit: the HO7124 is the master motor with the incorporated control unit and OXIBD receiver, while the HO7224 is the slave motor without a control unit. All gate logic, programming, BlueBUS accessory communication, and radio reception is handled by the HO7124. The HO7224 receives motor commands from the HO7124 via a wired connection and operates purely as an actuator. This design keeps the system cost lower than having two full control units, and simplifies programming — only one unit needs to be configured for both gate leaves.

The OXIBD is NICE’s plug-in bidirectional radio receiver. Like the Marantec bi.linked system, the OXIBD sends a confirmation signal back to the transmitter after receiving a gate command, confirming the command was received and acted upon. This bidirectional handshake eliminates uncertainty when operating the gate remotely or when the gate is not in direct line of sight from the user. The OXIBD plugs into the HO7124 control unit’s receiver socket and is pre-paired to the supplied NICE transmitters. Additional NICE-compatible transmitters can be paired to the OXIBD during commissioning via the HO7124’s programming menu.

The NICE HOPPBDKCE carries a 24-month manufacturer warranty. NICE specifies a maximum C distance of 25 cm between the pillar face where the motor is fixed and the gate hinge axis — beyond this, the articulated arm’s geometry is outside its designed operating range.
