Yes — the VDS PM-400’s IP55 rating is the highest protection class of any surface-mounted swing gate motor in the POWERgate Abu Dhabi range. IP55 means complete protection against dust ingress (5) and protection against water jets from any direction (5). Most surface motors in the range carry IP44 or IP54. For Abu Dhabi gates exposed to irrigation water spray, seasonal rain, and fine dust, IP55 provides significantly stronger sealing than IP44 and eliminates the risk of the motor body accumulating dust that reaches internal components over time.

The VDS PM-400 is explicitly classified as a reversible electromechanical operator. A reversible motor’s gearbox can be back-driven by external force — the gate can be manually pushed open or closed without using the key release. Almost all other motors in the range are irreversible, meaning the gearbox is mechanically self-locking and cannot be moved without the key release. The VDS PM-400 explicitly specifies no limit switch. Gate position control relies entirely on the 140°C thermal protection and the 800 RPM motor’s current-based obstacle detection combined with timed motor run in the compatible control unit. Physical mechanical stops at the gate’s open and closed positions are therefore essential — the gate must hit a solid stop at both ends for the motor to recognize it has reached the end of travel. Without mechanical stops, the PM-400 would continue to run and stall against the bracket geometry. The 50% duty cycle supports this stop-against-physical-limit operation pattern.
