The BFT ELI 250 N BT uses magnetic limit switches to detect the open and closed positions of the gate. Small magnets are positioned on the gate arm or pivot mechanism, and Hall-effect sensors inside the motor housing detect when the magnet passes, triggering the motor to stop at precisely the correct position. This differs from work-time limits (used on ATHOS AC motors, which stop after a timed run) and absolute encoders (used on the E5 BT A18, which continuously track position). U-Link is BFT’s proprietary two-wire communication protocol that enables direct digital communication between the ELI 250 N BT motor and the THALIA control unit. This reduces wiring complexity significantly in underground installations where cable routing through the foundation is difficult. The BFT ELI 250 N BT opens gate leaves to a maximum of 120° from the closed position — 10° wider than the BFT ATHOS AC range (110° maximum). For Abu Dhabi driveways where vehicles need to pass at a wide angle, or where the gate posts are positioned close to the property boundary requiring a wider opening arc for full clearance, the 120° capability is a practical advantage.
