The FAAC B614’s dual deceleration applies two independent braking mechanisms: electronic deceleration via the E614 control unit’s motor speed reduction command, and mechanical deceleration via a physical cam or spring mechanism in the drive train. Electronic deceleration slows the arm based on encoder position; mechanical deceleration provides a secondary physical brake if electronic control fails. This redundant approach reduces end-stop impact and gives the B614 smoother arm movement across millions of cycles at Abu Dhabi intensive-use sites.

The FAAC B614 assigns different IP ratings to its components: IP55 for the E614 electronic control unit (complete dust protection and water jet resistance) and IP44 for other mechanical components (partial dust protection and water splash resistance). The control unit — the most sensitive part — gets the highest protection. For Abu Dhabi outdoor installations exposed to dust and occasional rain, IP55 on the electronics significantly reduces the risk of ingress-related control board failure.

The FAAC B614’s sub-2-second opening for a 3m arm is achieved through a 24V DC brushed motor producing 300 Nm at 165W, combined with a high-efficiency gearbox and encoder-controlled speed management. The polyester powder coat adds colour, UV resistance, and a second barrier. This two-layer system provides superior long-term corrosion resistance for Abu Dhabi’s outdoor humid and coastal environments versus single-coat finishes.
