BFT ORO E Hydraulic Swing Gate Motor

The BFT ORO E and LUX are both 230V hydraulic swing gate operators with solenoid lock, hydraulic clutch, work-time limits, RIGEL 6 control, and no slowdown — but they serve different applications. The ORO E is reversible (LUX is irreversible), handles gates up to 2.5m and 200 kg (LUX: 2.0m and 300 kg), opens to 112° (LUX: 123°), takes 27 seconds per cycle (LUX: 17 seconds), is rated semi-intensive (LUX: very intensive), and carries IP55 (LUX: IP57). The ORO E suits lighter gates with less frequent daily cycling where the reversible mechanism is preferred. The LUX suits heavier gates with higher frequency use where the faster cycle and IP57 immersion protection are needed. Both share the same -10°C to +60°C operating range.

The BFT ORO E’s 27-second cycle time is the longest of any motor in the POWERgate Abu Dhabi swing gate range. This slower speed is a deliberate characteristic of the ORO E’s reversible hydraulic pump design. Because the pump drives fluid in both directions through the same valve circuit, the flow rate is optimised for controllability and reversibility rather than maximum speed — the hydraulic fluid moves through a more complex path than in a one-directional irreversible system, taking longer per stroke. For a semi-intensive residential swing gate where smooth, quiet, controlled movement is prioritised over cycle speed, 27 seconds is acceptable. At 240W, the ORO E is also the most gently powered of the hydraulic motors, reflecting its lighter 200 kg gate capacity.

Like the BFT LUX, the ORO E uses a solenoid lock — an integrated electromagnet that holds a locking bolt engaged when the gate is in the closed position and power is applied. When an open command is sent to the RIGEL 6 control unit, the solenoid releases the bolt before the hydraulic motor activates. This provides electrically controlled gate security without a separate external electric lock. The solenoid lock is part of the motor housing on the ORO E, keeping the installation compact. Because the ORO E is a reversible hydraulic operator, the solenoid engages cleanly at the closed position even when the motor has come to rest via fluid deceleration rather than mechanical stop impact.

The BFT ORO E operates across -10°C to +60°C — the same temperature range as the BFT LUX and GIUNO ULTRA hydraulic motors — confirming full suitability for Abu Dhabi’s outdoor environment including peak summer temperatures. Its IP55 protection rating (dust-protected against limited ingress, water jet resistant from any direction) is adequate for a pillar-mounted surface installation in a standard Abu Dhabi residential setting. The semi-intensive duty cycle means the ORO E is designed for residential gates with moderate daily movement rather than high-frequency commercial access. For a family villa gate opening and closing 10–25 times per day, the semi-intensive rating provides a comfortable margin above actual daily cycle demand.

The BFT ORO E carries a 24-month manufacturer warranty from purchase covering material and workmanship defects under normal operating conditions. As a reversible 230V hydraulic motor, the most common warranty risks are: incorrect RIGEL 6 work-time calibration causing the motor to drive the rod beyond the gate’s geometric stop (the hydraulic clutch will engage, but repeated over-travel stresses the rod seal); incompatible hydraulic oil substitution altering fluid viscosity and pressure; and solenoid lock wiring faults preventing the lock from releasing before motor activation, causing the motor to start under locked load. The IP55 rating means direct water-jet exposure to the motor housing from irrigation systems must be avoided.
