The CAME FROG underground motor features automatic re-engagement after manual release — once the gate has been manually operated during a power cut using the release mechanism and power is restored, the motor automatically reconnects to the gate drive without requiring the installer to manually re-engage a lever, key, or latch. This is a meaningful practical advantage over motors that require a physical re-engagement step before motorised operation can resume. In Abu Dhabi residential and commercial settings where power cuts may occur during off-hours with no technician present, the automatic re-engagement means the gate returns to fully automatic operation as soon as power comes back — with no risk of the gate remaining in manual-release mode and being left unmotorised inadvertently.

The CAME FROG range is available in both 230V AC and 24V DC versions. The CAME FROG-AE (230V) operates directly on mains power at 460W, completing a 90° manoeuvre in 18 seconds with a 30% duty cycle and 11 cycles per hour. The 24V version connects via a step-down transformer or dedicated 24V supply, typically offering lower power consumption and the ability to connect a battery backup for operation during power cuts — a meaningful advantage for Abu Dhabi properties where power reliability is a concern. Both versions carry IP67 protection and handle gates up to 3.5m and 400kg. The choice between 230V and 24V depends on the site’s electrical infrastructure, backup power requirements, and compatible control panel availability.

The CAME FROG range offers two foundation box material options. The standard foundation box uses steel with anti-corrosion treatment, providing adequate protection for most Abu Dhabi underground installations where drainage is correctly managed. The premium option is the AISI 304 stainless steel foundation box, which provides superior corrosion resistance for installations with higher moisture exposure — including sites near swimming pools, irrigation-heavy landscaping, or coastal Abu Dhabi locations where salt air can accelerate oxidation in underground enclosures. The foundation box is permanently cast into concrete during installation, so the correct material specification must be selected before groundwork begins. AISI 304 stainless steel is recommended for any Abu Dhabi site where long-term corrosion-free performance is a priority, as the cost difference at installation is far less than excavating and replacing a corroded box years later.

The CAME FROG underground motor uses integrated adjustable mechanical limit switches to define the gate’s open and closed positions — physically adjustable stops within the motor housing that cut motor drive at the programmed travel limit. Unlike encoder-based systems that track position electronically, the mechanical limit switches are set manually during installation by adjusting their position relative to the motor’s output cam. Once correctly set, they reliably stop the motor at the same point on every cycle regardless of control panel programming drift. The adjustability means the gate’s opening angle can be precisely set for the site geometry, and the limits can be re-adjusted if the gate or bracket position changes over time. This is a robust, proven position control system well-suited to outdoor underground installation where electronic sensors can be more vulnerable to moisture over long periods.

The CAME FROG underground motor carries a 24-month manufacturer warranty from purchase. Three installation factors are critical. First, drainage at the foundation box must be correctly engineered — despite IP67 protection, standing water in the pit over extended periods can breach seals. Second, the foundation box material should match site conditions — standard anti-corrosion steel for most sites, AISI 304 stainless steel for high-moisture locations. Third, if the FL-180 accessory is specified for 180° opening, the gate geometry and hinge alignment must be verified before concrete is poured, as the foundation box position differs for standard and 180° configurations.
