When the opening microswitch triggers, the control panel knows the gate is at the correct open position and can stop the motor precisely regardless of run time. When the closing microswitch triggers, the gate is confirmed fully closed electronically rather than relying purely on the control panel’s timed run. This dual microswitch system is more reliable than the KR300D’s work-time-only approach: if gate friction increases over time (stiff hinges, dust accumulation, temperature effects) the KR310 still stops accurately at the physical switch position, while a work-time motor without switches may stop slightly short of or past the correct position. For Abu Dhabi gates where precise repeatable closure is required for access control or electric lock alignment, the KR310’s dual microswitch system is the more reliable specification.

The CAME KRONO KR310 consumes 130W at 1.1A versus the KR300D’s 240W at 1.1A — interestingly, both draw the same 1.1A current but at different power levels. This power difference is likely due to the KR310’s motor design being optimised for precision-controlled movement via the adjustable microswitches, allowing the motor to operate at lower sustained power because it stops reliably at exact positions rather than running through to a mechanical stop at full thrust. The KR300D’s higher 240W reflects a motor designed to sustain 16 cycles per hour at higher continuous power output without the microswitch position correction that KR310’s design relies on.

The CAME KRONO KR310’s 30% duty cycle means the motor should be operating for no more than 30% of any given time period — equating to approximately 15 to 20 complete open/close cycles per day at Abu Dhabi ambient temperatures. At a 22-second cycle to 90°, each full open/close sequence takes approximately 46 seconds, and the 30% rating means the motor requires a comparable rest period before the next cycle. The adjustable opening and closing microswitches are the most maintenance-sensitive component: they must be correctly adjusted during commissioning so the gate stops precisely at the desired open and closed positions.
