The DU.350N is rated for intensive use, meaning it has no enforced rest interval between cycles and can operate continuously without overheating under normal conditions. This is a fundamental difference from the BILL and BOB surface motors (all rated at 30% duty cycle, approximately 15–20 cycles per day). The DU.350N’s intensive-use rating makes it suitable for high-traffic commercial entrances, parking facilities, and controlled access points that may require 50, 100, or more gate cycles per day. For a standard Abu Dhabi residential villa, this is significant over-specification — the intensive rating is most relevant for commercial or shared-access installations.

IP67 means the DU.350N motor is fully dust-tight (6 = complete protection against dust ingress) and protected against temporary water immersion up to 1 metre depth for 30 minutes (7). This is significantly better protection than the BOB range’s IP44 or the BILL range’s IP54. For an underground motor in Abu Dhabi, IP67 is essential — the foundation box is exposed to groundwater, irrigation runoff, and seasonal moisture. The motor’s oil lubrication (rather than grease used in surface motors) also provides superior long-term protection for internal components in a sealed underground environment.

The DU.350N includes a built-in encoder that continuously monitors the motor shaft position and movement during operation. The encoder sends position data to the BRAINY control panel, enabling precise slow-down as the gate approaches its open and closed positions, accurate torque monitoring to detect obstructions, and the ability to recreate the encoder signal from motor operating parameters for diagnostic purposes. Surface motors in the BILL and BOB range do not include encoders. For a 450 Nm underground motor moving gate leaves up to 4.0m, encoder-controlled deceleration significantly reduces mechanical stress on gate hinges, posts, and the motor itself.

The installation also requires accurate gate hinge alignment, correct motor-to-hinge positioning, encoder wiring to the BRAINY panel, photocell placement, and final safety testing. This is significantly more complex than surface motor installation and must be carried out by a qualified technician with underground gate automation experience. The BENINCA DU.350N carries a 24-month manufacturer warranty from the date of purchase covering material and workmanship defects under normal operating conditions. Given the motor’s underground installation, warranty is particularly sensitive to incorrect foundation box drainage (water ingress voiding the seal) and misalignment of the motor-to-hinge axis placing off-axis stress on the 450 Nm drive mechanism.
