The DEA MAC is a ram-style electromechanical operator — a compact linear motor where the output rod (ram) extends and retracts to push and pull the gate leaf through its arc. Unlike articulated arm motors (DEA GEKO) that use a folding arm, or underground motors (DEA GHOST 100) that are concealed below ground, the MAC’s ram mounts on the gate pillar and attaches directly to the gate leaf via a bracket and welded fixing plate. The compact ram body keeps the motor close to the pillar face, making it suitable for installations with limited side clearance.

The DEA MAC includes a fixing plate that must be welded to the gate leaf during installation — the only swing gate motor in the POWERgate Abu Dhabi range with a welded mounting requirement. Welding ensures the bracket cannot loosen under repeated 1650N thrust cycles, providing a permanent, vibration-proof fixing point. For Abu Dhabi gates made from welded steel or iron frames, this is straightforward for a qualified metal fabricator. However, aluminium profile gates or powder-coated gates require care to avoid damaging the finish during welding, and professional installation is essential.

The DEA MAC carries an IPX4 rating — the X indicates solid particle (dust) protection has not been formally tested or rated, while 4 confirms water splash protection from any direction. This is the same approach as the BFT PHOBOS AC range: dust protection exists in practice but is not certified. For Abu Dhabi’s outdoor environment where fine sand and dust are constant, the DEA MAC should be installed on a sheltered pillar face with reasonable cover rather than fully exposed. Regular cleaning of the ram and bracket area helps maintain long-term performance.

The DEA MAC and DEA GHOST 100 are both DEA motors for 3.0–3.5m/400kg gates, but operate very differently. The MAC is a surface-mounted 230V ram operator at 300W/1650N/IPX4 with a welded fixing plate and 110° opening. The GHOST 100 is a concealed underground motor at 250W/250Nm/IP67 with built-in mechanical stops, 180° opening capability, and three duty cycle options. Choose the MAC for a visible surface installation with straightforward wiring. Choose the GHOST 100 where gate aesthetics require a completely concealed underground motor.

The DEA MAC supports NETLINK — DEA SYSTEM’s proprietary digital network protocol for connecting gate automation devices. With a compatible DEA NETLINK interface, the MAC’s integrated control board can be networked with intercoms, access control readers, GSM openers, and monitoring systems over a single cable bus, rather than independent wiring for each device. This expands the MAC’s capability beyond simple remote-control gate operation into a fully networked access control system. The DE@NET control board family supports NETLINK alongside the standard kit accessories: 2 GT2 remotes, LINEAR photocells, blinker, and push button.

The DEA MAC carries a 24-month manufacturer warranty. The most critical installation requirement is the welded fixing plate: an incorrectly welded or inadequately penetrating weld will fail under the 1650N thrust, causing bracket detachment and motor damage.
