BFT ATHOS AC A40 Swing Gate Motor Kit

The A40 and A25 serve different gate profiles. The BFT ATHOS AC A40 kit uses a 400mm rod stroke to reach leaves up to 4.0 metres and handles gates up to 400 kg per leaf. The A25 uses a shorter 300mm rod stroke for leaves up to 2.5 metres but handles a higher weight of 700 kg per leaf. The A40 is the right choice for longer but lighter gates — typical of wrought-iron double-leaf driveways with extended leaves in Abu Dhabi villas. The A25 suits shorter but heavier gates, such as thick solid steel panels under 2.5m. Both run at 230 V with ALENA SW2, IP54, and semi-intensive duty, so the decision comes down entirely to your gate leaf length and weight.

The BFT ATHOS AC A40 kit includes a pair of self-aligning photocells with a 30-metre detection range. Self-aligning photocells use an internal mechanism that automatically compensates for minor misalignment between the transmitter and receiver during installation — reducing setup time and eliminating the need for precise manual beam alignment that standard fixed photocells require. The 30-metre range provides reliable safety coverage across any standard Abu Dhabi residential driveway or commercial entrance. The photocells connect to the ALENA SW2 board and trigger the electronic clutch and motor stop system if the beam is interrupted during gate movement.

The ATHOS AC A40 AR (reference P935115 00002) is the right-hand individual motor from the A40 family — the single operator that forms the right-side component of a double-leaf gate system. The complete kit (R935344 00002) includes both the left and right A40 operators pre-paired with the ALENA SW2 board, so the AR reference in the specs is provided for identification purposes only and does not mean you need to purchase it separately. Semi-intensive on the ATHOS AC A40 means the motor is rated for approximately 30 to 50 open/close cycles per day without overheating — significantly more than a standard 30% duty cycle motor’s 15–20 daily cycles, but below the unlimited cycling of an intensive-use motor. At a 16-second cycle time, each full open/close sequence on the A40 takes approximately 34 seconds. This makes the A40 kit well-suited to busier Abu Dhabi villa driveways, shared access entrances, or light commercial properties with moderate vehicle throughput. For very high-frequency sites exceeding 50 cycles daily, an intensive-use motor such as the BENINCA DU.350N underground operator would be more appropriate.

The BFT ATHOS AC A40 kit carries a 24-month manufacturer warranty from the purchase date covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal operating conditions. Warranty is voided by power surge damage to the ALENA SW2 control board, incorrect bracket geometry creating off-axis stress on the 400mm steel rod mechanism, improper electronic clutch force calibration, or installation without the required photocell safety devices.
