CAME ATS30AGS Swing Gate Motor

The CAME ATS30AGS is the only motor in our entire swing gate range to publish an average service life of 120,000 cycles. At a typical residential rate of 20 gate cycles per day, 120,000 cycles equates to approximately 16 years of daily operation before the motor reaches its average mechanical wear threshold — significantly beyond the typical 5–10 year expectation for residential gate motors. At a busier 30 cycles per day, the 120,000-cycle life still represents over 10 years. This stated durability figure reflects the die-cast aluminium structure, bevel gear design, and IP54 protection of the ATS series, and gives Abu Dhabi buyers a concrete long-term reliability reference that no BFT or BENINCA surface motor in the range provides. Regular lubrication maintenance will be required to achieve the full 120,000-cycle life.

The CAME ATS30AGS is the only CAME surface-mounted swing gate motor in our range with an IP54 protection rating. The CAME AMICO A18230 and both ATI models (A3000 and A5000) carry IP44. IP54 means the ATS30AGS is protected against dust ingress (5 = dust cannot enter in harmful quantities) and water splashing from any direction (4 = same as IP44). The additional dust protection in IP54 makes the ATS30AGS significantly better suited to Abu Dhabi’s outdoor environment where fine sand and dust are constant factors. For villa entrances where the gate motor is on an exposed pillar without a housing cover, the IP54 rating provides meaningfully better long-term protection than the IP44 of most other surface motors in the range.

The C Max. 200mm refers to the maximum allowable perpendicular distance between the gate’s hinge pivot axis and the motor bracket mounting point on the gate pillar face. This is an installation geometry constraint specific to the ATS30AGS’s telescopic arm design: if the pillar bracket is positioned more than 200mm from the hinge pivot, the telescoping arm’s range of motion is insufficient to drive the gate through its full arc. Most worm-gear linear actuator motors have more flexible bracket geometry, but the ATS30AGS’s compact telescoping mechanism is optimised for close-pillar installations where the motor bracket must sit within 200mm of the hinge centre. An installer must verify this geometry before selecting the ATS30AGS — gates with wider pillar profiles or unusual hinge positions may require a different motor type.

The reduction ratio of 28:1 on the CAME ATS30AGS bevel gear means the motor shaft rotates 28 times for every one full rotation of the output drive — converting the motor’s fast, low-torque rotation into slow, high-force actuator movement across the 400–3000N thrust range. A higher reduction ratio produces more force at lower speed, explaining the ATS30AGS’s 15-second cycle time at 250W for a 3.0m/400kg gate. The 10 consecutive cycles specification means the motor can complete up to 10 open/close operations in direct succession without a mandatory rest interval — after which a thermal rest is recommended. This is a more specific constraint than cycles-per-hour alone and reflects the bevel gear mechanism’s thermal behaviour under burst-use conditions, such as a gate repeatedly opening and closing during a busy access period.

The CAME ATS30AGS carries a 24-month manufacturer warranty from purchase. CAME specifies particular cable requirements for the ATS30AGS: H05RN-F cable for outdoor exposed runs and H05VV-F for indoor/protected conduit runs. H05RN-F is a rubber-insulated flexible cable rated for outdoor use, UV exposure, moisture, and temperature variation — the correct cable for Abu Dhabi’s outdoor pillar runs from the gate post to the motor. Using incorrect cable types that degrade in Abu Dhabi’s UV and heat conditions can cause insulation failure that voids warranty. The IP54 housing and 150°C thermal protection protect the motor internally, but correct cable installation is the installer’s responsibility.
