The FERNI FE40230 specification states: 90° opening with C Max. at 380mm and 120° opening with C at 0mm. This directly reflects the geometry of the hinged transmission arm: when the motor bracket is positioned at the maximum 380mm distance from the hinge pivot, the arm’s fixed length can only drive the gate through a 90° arc before the arm reaches its mechanical limit. When the bracket is positioned very close to the hinge (C near 0mm), the arm works at a tighter mechanical angle and can push the gate further through a 120° arc. This relationship is unique to the FERNI’s hinged arm design and must be considered during installation planning: Abu Dhabi gates requiring a full 120° opening for wide vehicle clearance need the bracket positioned as close to the hinge as possible, not at the maximum 380mm offset.

The CAME FERNI FE40230’s 540N thrust is the lowest linear force figure of any swing gate motor in the POWERgate Abu Dhabi range. However, this figure represents the force at the motor’s output shaft — the hinged transmission arm acts as a mechanical lever that multiplies this force at the gate leaf. Depending on the arm length and bracket position (C distance), the effective force applied to push the gate open is significantly higher than 540N. At 380mm C distance, the arm has a long lever arm that reduces the required shaft force for any given gate weight but also slows the opening speed — hence the 34-second cycle time. This leverage trade-off is why the FERNI can move a 400 kg gate at 4.0m with only 540N at the motor: the arm geometry multiplies the force while trading it against speed.

The CAME FERNI FE40230 kit includes the CAME ZM3E multifunction control panel — a control board unique to the FERNI kit that does not appear in any other product in the POWERgate Abu Dhabi swing gate motor range. The ZM3E is designed for two-leaf 230V hinged arm gate operators and accepts the included CAME AF43S 433.92 MHz plug-in radio frequency card as a separate plug-in receiver module, rather than having the receiver integrated into the board. The FAST handles leaves up to 2.3m and 200 kg with C Max. 200mm (extendable to 300mm), takes only 15 seconds per cycle, and is sold as a single motor only. The FAST has better IP54 protection versus the FERNI’s IP44. Both share 230V, 30% duty cycle, 150°C thermal protection, and hinged arm transmission. The FERNI is the right choice for large Abu Dhabi villa or commercial gates on wide architectural columns; the FAST suits smaller gates on standard or offset pillars.

The CAME FERNI FE40230 carries a 24-month manufacturer warranty from purchase on all components including the two motors and ZM3E control panel. Key warranty considerations: the variable opening angle (90° at C 380mm / 120° at C 0mm) means the gate must be set up with the correct mechanical end stop matching the chosen bracket position — if the gate is allowed to travel beyond 90° at maximum C offset, the arm is stressed beyond its rated geometry. The 30% duty cycle must be respected for the 34-second cycle motor — exceeding this rate in high-traffic periods will trigger the 150°C thermal protection and indicates an application mismatch. The AF43S plug-in radio receiver card in the ZM3E panel must be correctly seated; a loose card causes intermittent remote operation that can be mistaken for a control panel fault.
