The Somfy Ixengo JS and the Somfy Ixengo JL 230V share the same 3000N force, 300mm stroke, 18mm/s speed, IP54, CB 230 RTS control box, Keytis 2 RTS remotes, Master Pro Bitech photocells, RTS radio, and ground stop blocks requirement. The JS is a jack motorisation for gates up to 3m/350kg; the JL is a screw motorisation for gates up to 4m or 1000kg at 1.5m with electric lock. The JS publishes a 128-channel remote memory and 7–19 second opening range. Choose the JS for standard 2.5–3m residential gates; the JL for larger or heavier installations.

Somfy publishes the Ixengo JS capacity as a stepped chart: up to 200 kg at 3.0m leaf length, up to 280 kg at 2.75m, and up to 350 kg at 2.5m. As the gate leaf shortens, the shorter lever arm reduces the torque demand on the motor, allowing heavier gates within the same 3000N force specification. For Abu Dhabi villa gates at 2.5m with heavy solid steel panels approaching 300–350 kg, the Ixengo JS remains within specification. Beyond 2m, Somfy recommends adding an electric lock to reduce stress on the jack mechanism at the latch point.

When both bracket positions maximise mechanical advantage, the 300mm stroke covers the 90° arc in less distance and the motor completes the cycle faster. When bracket geometry is less optimal (constrained by pillar or gate leaf profile), the effective stroke per degree of rotation decreases and the same 18mm/s speed takes more time to complete the full arc.

The Somfy Ixengo JS CB 230 RTS control box stores up to 128 RTS remote control channels. Each channel corresponds to an individual Somfy RTS transmitter or button, allowing up to 128 separate authorised remotes to be programmed. For Abu Dhabi shared residential properties such as compound gates or small apartment blocks, 128 channels accommodates all residents with individual coded remotes. Additional Keytis or other Somfy RTS transmitters can be paired to the CB 230 RTS during setup. Because RTS is a proprietary protocol, only Somfy RTS-compatible transmitters can be stored.

The Somfy Ixengo JS CB 230 RTS provides a 24V DC / 360 mA accessory output — a low-voltage DC supply for powering compatible accessories connected to the gate system. This can power a 24V electric lock (eliminating the need for a separate transformer), a keypad or access reader, or an intercom power supply where the device’s power draw is within 360 mA. For Abu Dhabi installations where an electric lock is mandatory (leaves over 2m) or an access control device is needed, the 24V DC output avoids adding a separate power supply in the pillar.
