The NICE S-FAB is NICE’s compact underground motor for residential-only swing gates up to 2.3m and 250 kg — the smallest gate leaf capacity of any underground motor in the POWERgate Abu Dhabi range. All other NICE underground motors (M-FAB, L-FAB, BFAB) handle 3.5m leaves or more. The S-FAB suits Abu Dhabi villas with smaller entrance gates where the underground aesthetic is desired but gate size does not warrant a full-capacity motor. The NICE M-FAB range is the natural step up when gate leaves exceed 2.3m or require higher torque.

The two S-FAB models differ in encoder and control unit compatibility. SFAB2024 has no encoder and is compatible with NICE MC424 control units, providing timed position control at lower cost. SFAB2124 includes an encoder and requires the NICE MC824H control unit (the same panel used by NICE BFAB5024 and L-FAB HS), enabling precise position tracking, partial opening, and dynamic obstacle detection. Choose the SFAB2024 for a straightforward residential installation; choose the SFAB2124 when encoder intelligence is required for pedestrian partial-open function or more sophisticated gate management.

The NICE S-FAB specifies its operating arcs as 0° to 90° ±10° or 0° to 180° ±10°. The ±10° tolerance means the motor can be set to stop within 10 degrees either side of the nominal target angle — reflecting the adjustment range of the mechanical stops and limit switch system during commissioning. This is the only underground motor in the range to publish an angular tolerance figure, giving installers a precise calibration expectation rather than assuming the stop is exact. For the 180° version, this means the gate can fold fully flat to the boundary wall within a ±10° margin.

The NICE S-FAB includes a triangular spanner for manual gate release during power cuts. The triangular spanner profile — a three-sided socket key rather than a flat or hex key — inserts into the motor’s release point to disengage the underground gearmotor from the gate drive. The triangular profile is a specific anti-tamper choice: standard tools cannot operate it, so an unauthorised person without the supplied spanner cannot manually force the gate open. The spanner must be stored safely and accessibly for emergency use. It is a different tool from the wrenches and keys used by other NICE underground models.

The NICE S-FAB’s 60 cycles per hour matches the NICE LFAB4024 for the highest underground cycle rate in the range. However, NICE explicitly designates the S-FAB for residential use only — its estimated lifespan of 80,000 to 200,000 cycles is lower than the BFAB5024 (100,000–250,000) and HYKE surface motor (150,000–500,000). The 60 cycles/hour rating represents a burst capability for busy residential periods rather than sustained commercial throughput. For a typical Abu Dhabi villa with 20 daily cycles, the 80,000-cycle lower estimate still represents 10+ years of operation.

The NICE S-FAB carries a 24-month manufacturer warranty. NICE specifies that incompatible control units void warranty — SFAB2024 requires MC424; SFAB2124 requires MC824H. The 2m electric cable supplied with the motor must reach the control panel; plan cable routing during excavation. The -20°C to +50°C limit is the same as M-FAB models; Abu Dhabi pit positioning must avoid excessive solar-heated ground temperatures. Underground drainage is mandatory for IP67 integrity.
